Child & Family Health

The Region's Child & Family Health department provides a range of programs and services to support families, schools and communities. Our shared goal is to promote the healthy development of infants, toddlers and elementary school children.

Following is a sample of what we offer residents of the Region of Waterloo.


Programs & Services

  • Prenatal and postpartum support services
  • Screening and assessment at a variety of locations, including clinics, health fairs, private homes, Early Years Centres and schools, and at different ages/stages of childhood
  • Referrals to appropriate community services
  • Home visits and service co-ordination
  • Health teaching
  • Parenting education
  • School curriculum development
  • Training of service providers
  • Support to community groups which promote healthy child development such as baby- and family-friendly environments, encouraging breastfeeding, programs on responsible gambling and preventing violence, and planning accessible services for children 0-6 years of age and their families
