Families & Schools Together (FAST)

Families and Schools Together is an early intervention prevention-based program for elementary school children from pre-kindergarten to grade four (3 - 10 years).

This eight-week program involves parents, school staff, family service agencies and community based professionals working together in creating circles of support and building stronger families.

Region of Waterloo Public Health is partner with parents and agencies (Catholic Family Counselling Centre and Family Counselling Centre of Cambridge and North Dumfries in partnership with K-W Counselling) in this project.

Research shows that this program:

• Enhances family functioning.
• Improves school behaviour and performance.
• Prevents substance abuse.
• Reduces isolation and stress.
• Increases self-esteem.
• Involves parents in their children's schools.
