Disabilities and Special Needs Preparedness

Emergency preparedness is everyone's responsibility. Be prepared - take a few simple steps today and become better prepared to face an emergency.

All Canadians are encouraged to be prepared for the first 72 hours of an emergency.

While disasters and emergencies affect everyone, their impact on people with disabilities/special needs is often complicated by factors such as reliance on electrical power, elevators, accessible transportation and accessible communication - all of which can be compromised in emergency situations.

There are an estimated 1.5 million Ontarians with disabilities and special needs.
