Extreme Weather

Weather and climate can affect health. High and low temperatures, as well as heavy rainfall and wind patterns have the potential to cause adverse health effects and injuries.

Extreme temperatures can impact air quality which can contribute to or worsen many commonly occurring health conditions (e.g. asthma). Research has suggested that climate change may increase risk for diseases passed to humans by insects and animals and also impact food safety, security and water safety.
