Personal Service Settings
Services where blood-borne infections for clients and personal service workers may occur during the delivery of the service are included under the Personal Service Settings.
Infection control in these settings are essential to protect against the spread of bacteria or viruses.
Blood-borne diseases include Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
It is important to recognize the fact that blood and bloody fluids do not have to be visible on instruments or needles to result in infection.
Infection Control Practices
Infection control practices include:
- Maintenance and proper use of equipment, instruments and supplies.
- Appropriate cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of equipment.
- Proper personal hygiene and hand washing of personal service workers.
