Training and Public Education
Where Can You Learn CPR and First Aid?
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) coordinates a public awareness program known as CARE (Community Awareness and Response to Emergencies).
CARE is a partnership betweenEMS, the Hearth and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, St. John Ambulance and the Canadian Red Cross, that provides free awareness training for public access defibrillation, first aid and CPR.
To arrange a CARE session, contact the CARE coordinator at 519-579-6285
Emergency Medical Services does not provide community CPR or First Aid courses. Several well established commercial and non-profit organizations provide quality training to meet various needs.
St. John Ambulance can be reached at 519-579-6285, and the Canadian Red Cross at 519-742-2785
You can also look under First Aid Services in the Yellow Pages for additional options.
Who Is Responsible for Public Access Defibrillators?
The Region's CARE program is also responsible for maintaining almost 250 public access defibrillators located in regional schools, public buildings, seniors' and recreational facilities.
