Water Quality

Access to safe, high quality drinking and recreational water is something we sometimes take for granted.

However, supplies must be constantly monitored to ensure quality and safety.

Public Health Water Quality team works to protect water supplies by:

  • Ensuring that municipal communal water supplies are regularly monitored for chemical and bacteriological (bacteria) safety.
  • Providing householders on private water supplies or wells with access to testing and interpretation of results.
  • Participating with the Waterloo Regional Engineering Department in local groundwater protection strategies.
  • Inspecting public swimming pools, public spas and monitoring public beaches.
