Good Nutrition = Better Learners = Student Well-Beingboy with plate of food

Healthy eating is an essential component for student well-being. This web page provides ready to use tools and action plans using the Healthy Schools approach.

Before you start planning with your topic area, it is important to be familiar with the Healthy Schools process.

For Foundations for a Healthy School consultation from Region of Waterloo Public Health please contact us at:, 519-575-4400 or TTY 519-575-4608.

  • Gain commitment to improve your school's Healthy Eating environment. Share information about healthy eating and nutrition in schools with members of the school community.
  • Identify a Healthy Schools Committee. This may be an existing committee such as a Safe, Caring and Inclusive Schools Committee or School Improvement Committee.
  • Assess your school healthy eating environment by completing the Healthy School Planner - Healthy Eating Module. A report including recommendations will be generated with completion of the module for your school.
