We can't think of a better place to begin your career experience!

A placement is a great way to explore potential careers in Public Health, expand your skills and work on projects that can be highlighted on your resume. We have a great history of students liking their placements so much, they return to build a career with us.

Region of Waterloo Public Health recognizes that:

  • Supporting the placement of students for training, development and knowledge transfer/exchange is an integral part of meeting our obligations as a Public Health Unit
  • Supporting student placements is a critical part of developing the professional practice of health professionals

Public Health accepts a limited number of student placements who have to complete a required placement/practicum to graduate from their school/academic program.

Types of Student Placements

Region of Waterloo Public Health offers opportunities for the following types of student placements:

  • Paid Student Placements - where students are required to complete a paid placement/practicum in order to graduate from their academic program, or are hired by Public Health to provide support to departmental projects as required.
  • Unpaid Student Placements - where students are required to complete an unpaid student placement/practicum in order to graduate from their academic program.
