H1N1 clinics to continue in Waterloo Region for at least another week
Dr. Liana Nolan, Medical Officer of Health for Waterloo Region, confirmed today that the region has enough H1N1 vaccine from the province to continue offering clinics for the week of November 9th.
H1N1 immunization clinics for the week of November 9-13:
- November 9 – Southwood Secondary School – 30 Southwood Dr., Cambridge – 2-8 p.m.
- November 10 – Sir John A. MacDonald – 650 Laurelwood Drive, Waterloo – 2-8 p.m.
- November 12 – Bluevale Collegiate Institute – 80 Bluevale Street., North Waterloo – 2-8 p.m.
- November 13 – Huron Heights Secondary School – 1825 Strasburg Rd., Kitchener – 2-8 p.m
People will be required to verify that they and their family members are in a high priority group before receiving the vaccine. Priority groups who are eligible to receive the vaccine are:
- People under 65 years of age with chronic conditions (e.g. diabetes, cancer, etc.)
- Children 6 months to under 5 years of age
- Pregnant women
- Health care workers
- Household contacts and care providers of persons at higher risk who cannot be immunized (e.g. children under 6 months) or who may not respond to vaccines (e.g. those who are immune-compromised)
The public are asked to call the health unit’s automated clinic phone line at 519-883-2324 for upcoming clinic dates and additions to the clinic schedule. For general information about H1N1, the public can call 519-883-2289 or visit the Waterloo Region Pandemic website at www.waterlooregionpandemic.ca.
Unadjuvanted vaccine, exclusively for pregnant women, is now available. Pregnant women are asked to call their physician or the health unit at 519-883-2272, to make an appointment to receive the vaccine.
