H1N1 Immunization Clinics to Continue in Waterloo Region

Region of Waterloo Public Health has announced the following clinics for high risk individuals only:

Saturday, November 7th – St. David Catholic Secondary School
4 High Street, Waterloo,
9-4:00 p.m.

Monday, November 9th – Southwood Secondary School
30 Southwood Drive, Cambridge
2-8:00 p.m.

“We will continue to offer clinics as long as we have vaccine available,” says Dr. Liana Nolan, Medical Officer of Health for Waterloo Region. “Right now we are confident that we have enough vaccine to hold clinics on November 7th and 9th for high risk individuals. We will continue to announce additional clinics based on our supply of vaccine.”

People will be required to verify that they and their family members are in a priority group before receiving the vaccine. Priority groups who are eligible to receive the vaccine are:
  • People under 65 years of age with chronic conditions (e.g. diabetes, cancer, etc.)
  • Children 6 months to under 5 years of age
  • Pregnant women
  • Health care workers
  • Household contacts and care providers of persons at higher risk who cannot be immunized (e.g. children under 6 months) or may not respond to vaccines (e.g. those who are immune-compromised)
The public are asked to call the health unit’s automated clinic phone line at 519-883-2324, for upcoming clinic dates and additions to the clinic schedule. For general information about H1N1, the public can call 519-883-2289 or visit the Waterloo Region Pandemic website at www.waterlooregionpandemic.ca.

Unadjuvanted vaccine, exclusively for pregnant women, is now being offered. Pregnant women are asked to call their physician or the health unit at 519-883-2272, to make an appointment to receive the vaccine.
