Region of Waterloo Public Health has two dental clinics, one in Waterloo and one in Cambridge. These clinics are staffed by dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants.
Eligible children receive free basic dental care such as cleaning, check-ups and fillings.
Eligible adults receive limited emergency dental care such as extractions and root canals to eliminate pain. There is a $10 assessment fee for adults and some procedures require additional fees.
A health card is not necessarily required for treatment.
Eligibility
The dental clinics offer services to children and adults who live in the Region of Waterloo. An application must be filled out to determine eligibility for all patients. The eligibility of patients is determined by using the following criteria: Children under 18 years of age attending school in the Region of Waterloo whose family has no dental insurance and does not qualify for any other assistance program. A review of the clinic application is made to determine financial need.
Adults, age 18 and older, who do not have dental insurance, do not qualify for any other assistance, and for who the cost of dental treatment would cause financial hardship. Service is limited to emergency dental care.
